You may have noticed some (many!) new faces, new rules, new products and new prices since your visits before July 1st. Some changes have been easier than others. So what’s the deal now, exactly? Here are some questions and concerns I’ve heard frequently in recent weeks.
WHY IS IT SO BUSY NOW?
We now no longer require a medical recommendation to enter Barbary Coast, and anyone 21 or older with a valid driver’s license or government-issued ID (any government in the world), our average intake has tripled. Our exceptional reputation has cast our notoriety across the world, so can you blame us? To avoid waiting in a line, we offer online ordering for pick-up. If you are able, the mornings are still generally slower than the afternoons or nights.
WHY CAN’T YOU GIVE FREE SAMPLES OR DEALS?
In order to provide the Bay Area community and beyond with quality cannabis and cannabis products in a clean, safe environment, we have to comply with MAUCRSA, the body of laws dictating how California’s cannabis economy and industry currently works. Part of the deal is that we can no longer give out anything cannabis-infused for free, but we can get pretty close to it. We always announce our demos and their respective deals in advance, so check your email and instagram to find out when the next deal is dropping! You can also sign-up here on our website and follow us here if you aren’t already.
WHAT’S MY DAILY LIMIT?
As an adult recreational user, you are entitled to 28 grams of cannabis per day. This means the flower itself, but also includes prerolls. Concentrate limit on items like dabs and cartridges is eight grams per day, but your concentrate limit also includes the dry weight of edibles and tinctures.
WHY IS _____ NO LONGER SOLD?
Not everyone makes it to the other side. As morbid as that sounds, not every brand operating in the medical marijuana world was ready for the packaging and testing standards of recreational cannabis, or received the permits needed to operate legally in California. Until they manufacture compliant packaging AND are permitted by the state and local county, we cannot sell them.
WHAT HAS CHANGED IN THE LOUNGE?
Not much, just how full it gets! The lounge closes at 9:45pm, and we still ask for an ID for any equipment rental but do not charge. We still ask you make a purchase for entry, and more often than not our 30 minute time limit is enforced. There is also a liability waiver we ask all guests in the lounge to sign before entry.
